+ SCULPTURE
The sculpture speaks for the voice of nature breaking through all boundaries and perceptions, it is constant and prevails amongst even the greatest distractions of living in the city. Nature, represented in the wood element, is always right in front of us, waiting for us to notice and to appreciate it. Just like tradition and history, we can persevere if we follow the wisdom of our ancestors in combinations with the modern tools we have in the present day. The metal fittings used to lift the wood element away from the wall as if setting the stage from something great, something worth making space for.
The piece is assembled by laminating birch plywood after the shapes have been cut out to fit together seamlessly. Tonal laser etching on the surface of the form casts a voice of tribal significance, unrecognizable to any singular form or belief and also speaks to the inclusivity that the living world holds. Outside Inside needs to be hung in a thoughtful manner where the piece may look as if it is coming from the corner of the room, above a doorway or moving across the wall near the ceiling. Even though the simplicity of the design lends to its incognito qualities, the most thoughtful placement for this piece would be somewhere in plain site where most people may not see it at first glance but when they do, they stay awhile.
